Physical preparation helps your body relax so your mind can open up during your ketamine session. Here’s what to know:
Fasting:
Most clinics recommend avoiding solid food for 4–6 hours and stopping liquids 2 hours before your appointment. This lowers your risk of nausea or discomfort during the infusion. If you have diabetes or take meds with food, your provider may adjust the plan.
Clothing:
Wear loose, comfortable clothes—like you’re dressing for a cozy afternoon at home. Layers are ideal, as your body temperature may shift. If you’re getting an IV, wear sleeves that roll up easily.
What to bring:
An eye mask (to reduce visual distraction)
Over-ear headphones (for calming music, if allowed)
A light blanket or small comfort item
A water bottle for after the session
A journal or notebook for integration later
Preparing your body and space helps you feel safer, grounded, and more able to go inward without distractions.
